Over the weekend, SwaggNation,Inc through its first event of 2012, the Kurk Lee vs Sam Cassell Stop The Violence Basketball Game and Rally at Cloverdale Basketball Courts located on 2500 McCollough Street, Baltimore, MD on June 2, 2012.
The event began with a Stop The Violence Youth Rally hosted by Civ Jones of Magic 95.9 and Permiss of WOLB 1010 AM. The rally featured several powerful speakers plus a rousing opening prayer from Pastor Heber Brown of Pleasant Hope Baptist Church. Speakers included Kenneth “Sarge” Anderson, Youth Commissioner of the Cloverdale Basketball Courts, Nick Mosby, Baltimore City Council 7th District Representative, Kevin “Ogun” Beasley of Goodwill Industries International, Adam Jackson, CEO of Leaders of a Beautiful Struggle, Brother Farajii Muhammad, Community Leader, Wayne Amon Ra of WOLB 1010 AM and Spirit 1400, Marvin “Doc” Cheatam, President of the Baltimore Chapter of the NAACP, Catalina Byrd of WOLB 1010 AM, and Derrick “Ooh” Jones of Baltimore Youth Advocate Programs. The rally also included performances by R&B chanteuse C. Clear, rap group, Natural Street Livers and all girl rap & R&B group, Watoto of the Nile.
The stellar event which was accompanied by beautiful weather, balloons, sounds by DJ Angel Baby of 92Q . The celebrity basketball game featured teams coached by NBA veterans Kurk Lee and Sam Cassell The final basketball game was preceded by 2 youth exhibition games and by performances from Baltimore Club Dance group, The Dramatics and the 2012 Queen of Baltimore Dance Competition winner, and a very exciting Slam Dunk contest. Celebrity appearances were made by Paula Campbell, Duece Tre Duece, Jay Dee Polo, Flashman, E From Da Wic, K. Fields, D Boi Da Dome, Testme, Ashley Moore, Dave Da Barber, Charm City Cee, King Midas, Mullyman and TT The Artist to name a few.
